Job Overview
Qatar Job Updates is seeking a highly skilled Cost Control and Estimation Engineer to join our client’s Facilities Management (FM) Division based in Qatar. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced engineering professional looking to grow within a dynamic, client-focused FM environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for all cost estimation, BOQ preparation, budget modeling, and financial control activities across a portfolio of FM Hard and Soft service contracts. You will collaborate closely with operations, procurement, and commercial teams to deliver accurate cost intelligence that drives competitive bids and profitable delivery.
Key Expertise Required
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and cost breakdowns for FM tenders and contracts.
- Develop and maintain cost estimation models for both Hard Services (MEP, Civil) and Soft Services (Cleaning, Security, Landscaping).
- Conduct man-hour calculations and resource planning to support bid and operational budgets.
- Evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations to ensure value-for-money procurement decisions.
- Monitor project costs against budgets and report on variances with corrective recommendations.
- Collaborate with the commercial team to develop winning pricing strategies for new tenders.
- Maintain cost databases and historical pricing benchmarks for continuous improvement.
- Produce financial reports, cost forecasts, and dashboards for senior management review.
- Support contract negotiations with factual cost intelligence and scenario modelling.

Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in cost estimation within Facilities Management.
- Proven track record in FM Hard Services (MEP) and/or Soft Services cost estimation.
- Strong command of MS Excel including advanced formulas, pivot tables, and financial modelling.
- Familiarity with FM estimation software and CAFM systems is an advantage.
- Excellent numerical analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight bid submission deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Prior experience in Qatar or the GCC region is highly preferred.
