Key Duties & Responsibilities
As an Assistant Nurse in this reputed UAE hospital, you will be expected to carry out the following duties on a daily basis:
- Patient Bedside Care & Monitoring: Provide attentive and continuous bedside care to assigned patients, monitoring their health status, comfort, and overall well-being throughout each shift.
- Assisting with Personal Hygiene: Support patients with essential daily activities including bathing, grooming, oral hygiene, and feeding, ensuring dignity and comfort at all times.
- Vital Signs Assessment: Accurately measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiratory rate; promptly report any abnormal findings to the nurse-in-charge or attending physician.
- Mobility Support & Patient Repositioning: Assist patients in safely moving, repositioning, and ambulating to prevent pressure ulcers and maintain musculoskeletal health, following established manual handling protocols.
- Documentation & Daily Care Updates: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, care plans, and handover notes in compliance with the hospital’s documentation standards and UAE healthcare regulations.
- Supporting Clinical Procedures: Actively assist qualified nurses and doctors during clinical procedures, preparing equipment and supplies, and maintaining a clean and sterile working environment.
- Infection Control Compliance: Adhere strictly to hand hygiene protocols, personal protective equipment (PPE) use, and standard infection prevention and control measures at all times.
- Patient Communication & Emotional Support: Engage with patients and their families in a compassionate, respectful manner, addressing concerns and providing emotional reassurance as needed.
Educational Requirements & Certifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must hold one of the following nursing qualifications recognised by UAE health authorities:
- GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) – A diploma-level qualification in general nursing and midwifery, recognised across UAE healthcare licensing bodies.
- BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) – A four-year undergraduate nursing degree from an accredited institution, preferred for candidates aiming at higher scope-of-practice roles.
- ANM (Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery) – A foundation-level nursing qualification accepted for assistant nursing positions in UAE hospitals.
In addition, candidates must hold or be eligible to obtain one of the following UAE nursing licenses:
- DHA (Dubai Health Authority) – Required for practice within Dubai’s healthcare facilities.
- MOH (Ministry of Health) – Applicable to healthcare positions across the northern Emirates.
- HAAD (Health Authority – Abu Dhabi) – Required for positions within Abu Dhabi’s healthcare system.
Technical & Clinical Competencies
Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the following specialised clinical skills, which are essential for this role:
Proficiency in tracheostomy and catheter care demonstrates the ability to manage patients with complex medical needs safely. Experience in nasogastric tube (NGT) and percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) feeding is critical for managing patients who are unable to meet nutritional needs orally. A valid Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification is mandatory, ensuring readiness to respond effectively in emergency situations.
