Key Responsibilities

As a Civil Engineer specializing in fire and ventilation systems, you will be expected to manage and supervise project delivery from initial site mobilization through to testing, commissioning, and final handover. • Supervise and manage on-site installation of fire alarm systems, fire suppression networks, and mechanical ventilation systems across active construction projects in Dubai.
• Interpret and review engineering drawings, shop drawings, and system schematics prepared in AutoCAD or REVIT, identifying discrepancies and coordinating resolution with the design team.
• Coordinate with main contractors, consultants, and client representatives to ensure timely completion of MEP and fire system works in line with the project programme.
• Ensure all installation works comply with Dubai Civil Defence (DCD) codes, NFPA standards, and UAE Fire and Life Safety Code requirements at every stage.
• Conduct regular site inspections and quality control checks, documenting non-conformances and ensuring corrective actions are implemented promptly.
• Manage material submittals, method statements, and inspection and test plans (ITPs) for all fire and ventilation scopes of work.
• Prepare and maintain accurate daily site reports, progress updates, and as-built documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Coordinate with the estimation and procurement teams during the pre-construction and procurement phases to ensure material specifications and quantities are correctly captured.
• Attend and represent the company at technical meetings, progress reviews, and DCD inspection appointments.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and site technicians, ensuring safe working practices and technical standards are consistently upheld.
• Manage and track project variation orders and change requests, liaising with the commercial team to ensure financial implications are properly recorded.
• Support the testing and commissioning process for fire alarm panels, sprinkler systems, smoke detectors, and ventilation equipment in coordination with system specialists.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Candidates must hold a recognised Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline. Applications from candidates holding degrees in mechanical or electrical engineering who have demonstrable experience in fire system site supervision will also be considered on a case-by-case basis. The minimum academic qualification is a four-year undergraduate engineering degree; candidates with postgraduate qualifications or professional accreditations will be given preference.

A minimum of 6 to 8 years of post-graduate engineering experience is mandatory, with a clear and verifiable track record in at least one of the following areas: building fit-out projects, site supervision of MEP works, or civil infrastructure delivery involving fire protection systems. Generic construction site experience without exposure to fire alarm or fire fighting systems will not meet the requirements of this position.

Technical proficiency in AutoCAD is essential, and experience with REVIT — particularly for clash detection and coordination with other building services — is highly valued. Candidates should be comfortable working with large, multi-discipline drawing sets and generating shop drawings or mark-ups independently.
