Draftsman
Construction Field | 3–5 Years Experience | Qatar
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Draftsman with solid experience in the construction sector to join our team in Qatar. The ideal candidate will be proficient in preparing accurate technical drawings, construction plans, and as-built documents using industry-standard drafting software. Candidates with hands-on experience in construction projects and a strong understanding of engineering drawings and specifications will be given strong preference.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, revise, and finalize technical drawings, construction plans, and shop drawings in accordance with project specifications and standards.
- Develop detailed 2D and 3D drawings for civil, architectural, structural, or MEP works as required by the project team.
- Interpret and translate engineer/architect instructions, sketches, and concepts into precise technical drawings.
- Maintain and manage drawing registers, revision logs, and as-built documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and site teams to ensure drawings reflect current design intent and site conditions.
- Review existing drawings for accuracy and update them as per site instructions, change orders, or RFIs.
- Prepare submittal packages for consultant/client approvals as per project requirements.
- Ensure all drawings comply with relevant Qatar codes, standards, and client requirements.
- Manage and organize drawing files using document management systems.
- Support the project team with quantity take-offs and material schedules when required.
Required Software Proficiency
Candidates must be proficient in one or more of the following industry-standard drafting tools:
Strong command of AutoCAD is mandatory. BIM/Revit experience is a significant advantage.
Preferred Experience & Background
- Civil, structural, or architectural drafting for construction projects
- MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) drafting and coordination drawings
- Infrastructure, fit-out, or high-rise building projects in Qatar or GCC
- Preparation of shop drawings, IFC drawings, and as-built documentation
- Working with international consultants, main contractors, or developers
- Familiarity with Qatar municipality drawing standards and submission requirements
- Experience in oil & gas, facilities management, or industrial construction environments
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil / Mechanical / Architectural Engineering, or related field.
- Diploma in Drafting, Engineering, or a relevant technical discipline is also accepted.
- Additional CAD or BIM certification is a strong advantage.
- 3 to 5 years of proven drafting experience in the construction field.
- Experience in Qatar or the GCC region is preferred.
- Portfolio or sample drawings may be requested during the interview process.
Skills & Competencies
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in preparing technical drawings.
- Good command of English to understand and follow technical specifications and instructions.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple drawing sets simultaneously.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to meet project deadlines.
- Team player who can collaborate effectively with engineers, architects, and site teams.
- Willingness to visit project sites when required for as-built verification.
